Today was a medium day on the BBB scale. It was a day of sneaking up to the deck and jumping on the medicine chair where she gets her medicine bread. She did this so many times trying to trick me in to giving her the medicine bread multiple times. When it was medicine bread time, she was so excited that she climbed from the chair on to my legs just so she could get to the bread quicker.
She hung out with Honks (who still isn’t feeling too well) for a bit. She ate an egg. She saw that black, fat cat again and yelled at him. She saw a screw on the ground and ran to pick it up and eat it (Bobby eats screws, don’t ask me why….), but I dove on it in a gold winning performance before she could grab it. She licked a leaf and she saw the sky. Not a bad day for a little broken necked hen with a mangled beak who was seen as nothing and no-one for the first 12 months of her life in that cage.
I got asked the question recently, “Why do you love Bobby so much?” and it’s not something I can adequately put in to words. Her personality, sense of humour, love of life, pure joy and cheeky determination to get the most out of each day despite her past are just a few of the reasons I love her, but I just love her because she is who she is…..I’m not sure how else to explain that love really. I just know that life without her would be so much emptier and I am such a better person for knowing her.
